Day 1: USA- Bangkok

Begin your journey as you board your international flight bound for Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand.

Day 2: Arrive in Bangkok

Today, fly over the Pacific Ocean and cross the international date line. Upon arrival in Hong Kong, board a connecting flight to Bangkok, in which you are met and greeted at the airport by your Discovery Program guide. Tonight, attend a traditional Thai Classical Dance Welcome Dinner Show. DS

Day 3: Bangkok

Bangkok has served for over 200 years as the spiritual, cultural, commercial, and educational heart of Thailand. It is a large city, home to about 10 million residents. This morning, visit and admire the royal splendor of the Grand Palace and Coronation Hall. Buddhism is one of the cornerstones of Thai culture. Appreciate the level of devotion as you view the Emerald Buddha Temple. After visiting the Gems Factory and Thai Silk, the rest of the afternoon is free at leisure. B, L

Day 4: Bangkok

Bangkok is dotted with 400 glittering Buddhist temples and magnificent palaces, classical dance extravaganzas, and numerous shopping centers. Today, explore the world famous Damnern Saduak Floating Market on Bangkok’s timeless klongs (canals). Numerous flat boats fill the klongs with produce and other wares to be bargained for. The afternoon is free for your leisure activities. You may want to go on an optional excursion to the Rose Garden featuring an exciting Thai Cultural Show with elephants. B, L

Day 5: Bangkok

Today, you are free to explore Bangkok at our own pace, do some shopping on our own, or relax at the hotel. B

Day 6: Bangkok - Chiang Mai

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Bangkok’s domestic airport for departure to Chiang Mai, a city of great historical interest and noted for its handicraft villages and colorful ethnic hilltribes. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel, assembling later in the evening

Chiang Rai, Thailand 

Day 7: Chiang Mai

This morning, visit the historical Doi Suthep Temple and the Holy Pagoda containing a relic of Lord Buddha. Continue to the Thai Handicraft Village, Sankhempeng Silk & Cotton Handweaving Factories, and Borsang, a village famous for its umbrellas and primitive paper making. Tonight, enjoy shopping local Chiang Mai products at the Night Bazaar, then take a leisurely walk back to the hotel. B, L, D

Day 8: Chiang Mai

Start off your day with a visit to see the elephants at work in the jungles. Experience a close-up encounter with the elephants and see how they behave in their natural environment. Head back to the city where the rest of the day is free at leisure. B, L

Day 9: Chiang Mai

Gain a deeper understanding of this city as you explore its streets on your own. Take an optional tour to the most magnificent and oldest temple in Lamphun and tour the city by horse drawn carriage. B

Day 10: Chiang Mai

Enjoy your morning at leisure. This afternoon, embark on your "temple tour." First, you will visit the 700 year old temple Wat Chiang Mun, the largest one in Chiang Mai. It contains a small Buddha rumored to have the power to bring rain. Continue on to Wat Pra Singh (AD 1345) and Wat Chedi Luang (AD 1411) where a special lecture has been arranged for you to learn about the role of Buddhism in Thailand’s social, cultural, and political life. Day 11: Chiang Mai - Hill Tribes- Chiang Rai

There are many tribes around Chiang Rai and along the Mae Kok River. Each group speaks its own language and follows animist customs. Upon arrival to Chiang Rai, you will visit the Hill Tribes of Karen Long Necked and Big Earings Hill Tribes. Dinner is served at the hotel this evening. B, L, D

Day 12: Chiang

Chiang Rai is famed for its scenic views and close proximity to the legendary "Golden Triangle." After a visit to Chiang Saen, a small town and an old capital of the Lanna Kingdom, continue your tour to the world famous Golden Triangle where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar (Burma) meet the Mekong River. Proceed to Mae Sai, the northern-most town in Thailand well known for its crisp mountain scenery, hilltribes, and falls. Upon your return, enjoy a local Thai dinner followed by a visitation to the Chiang Rai Night Bazaar. B, D

Day 13: Chiang - Bangkok

Today, fly back to Bangkok. B

Day 14: Bangkok - USA

Bid Thailand a fond farewell as you board your homebound international flight. B

Payments: A $450 per person deposit check will be needed now in order to hold your space on the trip. Your payment schedule will be mailed to you with your final payment due January 2, 2010, 112 days before departure.

Rate: $2,749 per person double occupancy. Non-member price is $2,849. Air fuel surcharge is

presently $200 and is included. Additional taxes, and other fees are presently $92 and are not

included. Single supplement $700. Rates valid until December 10, 2009.

Final payment is by check only.

Refunds: Cancel more than 120 days for any reason, you will be issued a refund less $150 each.

Cancel 120 days to 100 days and receive a refund less $450 per person. Cancel 99 to 60 days and

receive a refund of 50% of the total trip cost, after 60 days a 100% charge of total trip cost. Refund protection is not included, but strongly recommended and available from us. Written cancellation required and is effective when received by Chamber Discoveries during normal business hours.

Note: Valid U.S. passport required. Singles are limited. Passport, tips to guides, airline bag fees, airport/departure taxes paid locally, visa and items of a personal nature are not included. Order of events, flights, hotels, taxes, charges, fees and fuel charges are subject to change.
